One engagement during the fireworks (that we know of)

For more than 15 years, we’ve supported this investment management firm celebrate the year with colleagues, family and friends. And for several of those, the venue has come with one fairly spectacular advantage: a front-row view of London’s New Year’s Eve fireworks.

It also comes with a few complications.

The boat sits inside one of London’s most restricted zones on its busiest night of the year, so access, security and timing all have to work perfectly. Powwow works with the Mayor of London’s New Year’s Eve organisers to get guests safely to the venue, then spends three days transforming the space before anyone arrives.

Each year brings a new creative world. Scandinavian winter lodge. Rock ’n’ roll takeover. Decades of music. Different theme, same aim. Give guests something that feels completely removed from the everyday.

That long-running relationship means the team can keep pushing the idea without starting again from scratch. The client brings the occasion, we work closely with them to find new ways of making it feel special.

And occasionally, very special indeed. One year, a couple got engaged during the fireworks.

The fireworks were the easy bit.

The boat sat inside London’s restricted New Year’s Eve zone, so we worked with the city’s event organisers to get every guest safely through to the venue.
